Title: Microfluidic chambers provide a novel method to study the functional properties of sensory neuron terminals in culture. Primary Supervisor: Martin Koltzenburg
Secondary supervisor: Giampietro Schiavo
Summary: The cell bodies of cultured DRG neurons are extensively used as an in vitro model for cellular investigations of the receptive terminals of nociceptors. However, little is known about the similarities between the cell body and terminals. I have established the use of microfluidic chambers combined with functional calcium imaging to study and manipulate different neuronal compartments in culture.
